Biography

Maribel is originally from Mexico. Maribel graduated from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science in Family and Child Studies and from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida with a Master of Science in Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health with a specialization in Leadership. Maribel has a background in higher education and has worked in institutions in Mexico, Florida, and Oklahoma. She was an International Scholar Advisor and Designated School Official at the University of Tampa, the University of South Florida, and Cameron University.  Maribel also worked as an Assistant Teacher in Lawton Public Schools and was an English Second Language (ESL) and In-School Suspension support teacher in Hillsborough County Public Schools in Tampa, Florida. In addition, she has experience working in the Department of Rehabilitation Services in Tampa, Florida and Chickasha, Oklahoma, where she helped students and adults with disabilities to find jobs, colleges, and community resources. Her hobbies include spending time with her family, enjoying listening to music, and singing. She also participates in church activities every Sunday and enjoys volunteering with community organizations. She is a passionate person who inspires students to achieve their academic career goals and is an advocate for children, adolescents, and families.

 

Maribel will serve as the designated Academic Advisor for third and fourth-year students in the School of Arts & Humanities.
