Biography
Delton Gordon is a seasoned leader in student housing and residence life, with over two decades of experience in higher education administration. He currently serves as the Director of Housing Operations, where he oversees all facets of residence life and housing, including assignments, billing, budgeting, construction, educational programming, and facility maintenance.
Delton began his career in housing as a Graduate Hall Director at Emporia State University. He went on to serve in progressively responsible roles at Kansas State University – Salina, Tarleton State University, Oklahoma State University, and Arkansas Tech University. His leadership journey includes roles such as Residence Life Coordinator, Assistant Director for College Advancement, Director of Student Leadership, Residence Area Manager, and Assistant Director for Residence Life. At Oklahoma State University, he managed student conduct, leadership development, residential curriculum, living-learning programs, and operations for nearly 2,900 beds. In 2018, he became the Associate Director for Residence Life at Arkansas Tech University, where he served as the Senior Housing Officer for almost seven years.
Delton is also an experienced educator, having taught leadership and student development courses across multiple institutions. His teaching portfolio includes credit-bearing courses and certification programs focused on fraternity and sorority life, resident advisor training, and leadership theory.
Committed to professional service, Delton served as Region IV-West Coordinator for Regional Finance from 2021 to 2024 and is currently the President of the Southwest Association of College and University Housing Officers (SWACUHO), serving a three-year term.
He holds a B.S. in Family Relations and Child Development from Oklahoma State University, an M.S. in Counselor Education from Emporia State University, and a Ph.D. in Leadership from Carolina University.
Outside of his professional work, Delton is deeply engaged in community service, having held leadership roles in local churches, advisory boards, and youth sports programs. He is married to Dr. Sarah Gordon, and together they have one son, Evan.
