Biography

Jessica Mason grew up in Chickasha and graduated from Chickasha High School before pursuing her BFA in Graphic Design at Rochester Institute of Technology in 2007. She later earned her M.Ed. in Deaf Studies/Deaf Education from Lamar University in 2021 and is currently pursuing her Ed.D. in Deaf Studies/Deaf Education at Lamar University.
She began teaching at USAO as an adjunct instructor in Fall 2024. Jessica’s academic work focuses on supporting Deaf international students, and she has presented at the Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholars’ 35th Annual International Conference on the topic of culture shock among Deaf international students in post-secondary institutions.
Before coming to USAO, Jessica worked for five years as an advisor for Deaf international students at Howard College in Big Spring, TX, and taught American Sign Language for two years at Humble ISD in Texas. Deeply involved in the Deaf community since childhood, Jessica is passionate about empowering students and building inclusive learning environments.
Outside of teaching, she enjoys puzzles and building intricate 3D Metal Earth models. Jessica lives in Chickasha with her husband, who is also a Deaf ASL teacher, and their two “furkids,” Bella and Chrissy.
