Biography
Dr. Emily R. Schumacher is a anthropological archaeologist with an expertise in the historical archaeology of the Atlantic World and a Visiting Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies. Her research explores how physical, cultural, and social landscapes intersect with material culture to reflect political power, social and economic control, identity, and agency.
She has additional applied anthropological experience working in refugee resettlement. Previously, she served as a Cultural Orientation Instructor for the Refugee Resettlement Office at The Synagogue | Congregation B'nai Emunah in Tulsa, OK and was active member of The University of Tulsa chapter of the national campus refugee resettlement initiation Every Campus A Refuge (ECAR).
In her spare time, Dr. Schumacher loves to eat amazing food, read just about anything fiction, and watch Asian dramas and horror movies (domestic and International).
